June 26 is Take Your Dog to Work Day, and Petfinder is proud to be the 2009 official adoption partner of the event, which is organized by Pet Sitters International.

We asked Petfinder visitors if they bring their pets to work. Here are just a few of the responses:
My husband works for the US Army. And while he is not supposed to bring him to work by Army standards, he brings our youngest dog to work with him, and my husband's boss brings his cats to work!

I work at Archdale Animal Clinic in Archdale, NC. We have a very laid-back boss. Pretty much everyone that I work with brings their dog to work with them daily. It's like the dogs have a job too. They all run loose in the back and get along, except for the occasional grumble over treats. The clients know them all by name and love seeing them. Personally I don't know what it would be like to not have Riley with me at work. I have never been in another vet clinic like ours, but for us it works.--Byrd

Since I work at an animal shelter, YES! We are allowed to bring our pets to work. For us, having our pets around really reminds us why we do what we do. Most of us have former shelter dogs, so it reinforces that happy endings do happen! It's a great morale boost when you're dealing with so much sadness. Even if it's a co-worker's dog, feeling that paw on your leg or that wet nose on your arm brings us back to why we started working there in the first place.--Melissa Tata, Program Administrator, Animal Protective Foundation, Scotia, NY
I work for my county's local animal shelter. I'd only been there about two months when a litter of border collie mixed pups came in. That's when I found my Blue, he looks like a Border/Catahoula mix and he's the love of my life. All 60 lbs of him, he sleeps in bed with me at night and rides to work with me everyday! The shelter manager thinks it's good 'PR' -- he's like a Walmart greeter and wants to meet every person and every animal who comes in. So I get to bring my dog with me to work every day and I love it. He hangs out with the office ladies while I'm in the back cleaning and when I come up to take breaks he's right there waiting for me. Around noon we go have lunch with our co-workers and usually take a big walk. It's just so nice, I'm blesed to have a job where I can bring him with me everyday. The other ladies I work with love him, customers love him and more importantly I love him. I think he encourages people coming into the shelter to adopt a dog!--Chelyse

My school lets me bring the dogs to school :)

We don't have a specific policy but doggies are welcome at our various offices. People really enjoy having them in the office. It gives the place a homey feel and my dog loves coming in and hanging out.--Audrey Helderman, Recruiting Communications & Events, Facebook, Palo Alto, CA

I bring my little Pappi to work with me sometimes. But we have a Pappi there every day. I work as a stylist in Atomic Salon in Raleigh and one of the other stylists brings in her pup every day. The rest of us get upset if Ginger can't come for whatever reason. She's defiantly the "manager" of the salon. My little Jetta comes with me atleast once a week. She's just a bit shier so I don't bring her as often as Ginger get's to come.

But the customers love it and everyone asks about them. Even the owner brings in his beagle on occasion, it's like doggy day atleast once a week there. But I think Bring You Dog to Work Day is great, we'll be sure to celebrate from now on.

It is sometimes fun to bring your pets at work since dogs can actually lessen stress because of their playful nature. But before you let them out of your house, you have to make sure that they are physically fit and beautiful, and this is because they are healthy. And indeed, high quality dog foods are helpful in ensuring the health of your dogs.

I have an Austrailian shepard/ greyhound mix that is now 2 years old. From the first day I found this little guy he won the hearts of everyone he met. My boss liked him so much that he agreed that once he was potty trained I could bring him to the office everyday with me. Rowdy and I have been working together for two years now and my boss has a stash of dog treats for him when he comes ( it is a game for them both). I wish that most places had a policy to allow the dog to take part in the work place it makes it so much nicer to have them by your side.

I work for myself and when it came time to get a dog I specifically chose one that was easy for me to transport on the subway/bus. Dogs are so social - I didn't want to leave my new bff at home w/o people for 6 hours. He's happy and I'm happy with the arrangement!

My two little rescue dogs come to work with me every day. They LOVE it. My husband and I own a small custom home building business. They get to hang out with us during the day. When the stress gets to you, all you have to do is get some doggie love and it all IS better. At least you know you're doing something right in life when you can look at them and see how happy they are. I couldn't survive without them.

I take my dog Bailey to work with me every day. He greets customers and relaxes at my desk. Many customers like him.

I take my dogs to work every single day! Our company is a pet products company and we have two resident birds, two dogs that are at work everyday and sometimes other employees bring pets. We've had a ferrett, a chinchilla, a rat, dogs, a kitten rescued off the railroad tracks behind the building (now a pet of one of the office workers) at the business on any given day. And, folks who come for meetings sometimes bring pets with them as well. During the workday, employees families visit and bring their kids and pets with them. It's a fun place to work with and for people who truly love animals and want the best for them! The owners have reptiles, horses, sheep and other pets in addition to their dogs.

I bring my dog to work everyday. She has her own area complete with bed, toys and "diner." I can't imagine the morning commute without Onyx sprawled out on the seat next to me. She's our mascot and greeter. I'm so lucky my boss is a dog lover and that I adopted an adult dog.

I think TYDTWD is wonderful...at least if you're not in the medical or food industries!!!

I think that is a great idea for Bring your pet to Work Day! It's a chance to show off your pet and spend time with them. They will love to get attention from other animals and people who pass by. This is a new adventure and a great experience! By the way- the little puppy in the picture with the army hat on is sooooooo adorable!! :)
